I’m blown away with all the interest I’ve had from my sewing. A month ago I had only 200 followers on my Instagram account and now I have above 12,000. It is really amazing. I’ve been interviewed by more than 15 major media sources and featured on countless websites. TUESDAY Aug 21 I’ll be experiencing a first: I’ll be interviewed on Fox 13’s “The Place”. I’m so nervous but my excitement outweighs my fear.
In March of 2017 I made my daughter the first dress out of her daddy’s dress shirt and loved the result. I kept making outfits because it was fast and challenging to my creativity. Now, 6 months later I’m being featured for a hobby I love.
The first interview I did was with Chaunie Brusie, a writer with Babble.com. I did not anticipate all the attention that would come from that interview.
I’ve been featured around the world in place like: Japan, South Koria, France, Italy, Brazil, Mexico, Russia, England, Wales, Northern Ireland, Indonesia, Maldives, and Australia to name a few.
I can’t believe the attention I’ve receive and feel so humbled and honored by it. I’m thankful for all the kind comments and feel like I don’t deserve any praise. I want to thank all of you for wanting to join along with me on my creative journey.
Tomorrow is a live TV interview and I’ve been worried about what to wear. I've never been on TV before! I knew I wanted to wear something I’ve made. I then thought it would be a cute idea to make myself a shirt out of my Father’s shirt because that is the very thing I’m being featured for.
This shirt is actually a shirt I gave him years ago and when I told him my idea he immediately brought all of his favorite shirts over to have me pick one. My dad has a plethora of Hawaiian shirts because they are his favorite thing to wear. This shirt has faint Hawaiian flowers on it which are my dad’s signature look. I’m feeling so sentimental about wearing a part of my dad up on the stage.
If you know my dad, then you know he loves to make people smile. He is a goof ball and always brags about the last time he made someone laugh. He is the most positive and kind man I know and I’m so grateful to be raised by such a loving father. I’m going to be drawing from his confidence tomorrow as I try not to stutter on camera.
If you would like to watch the interview tune in LIVE to Fox 13 The Place tomorrow at 1:00PM.
Or get on later that night and watch it on their website at fox 13Now.com
What do you think of my new shirt?
